METRO project aims to improve the quality, safety and environmental sustainability in maritime transport by promoting multimodality and eco-innovative solutions for maritime and coastal transport in the program area of Italy and Croatia.
Through synergy between universities, companies and public bodies active in the maritime domain and naval architecture, network of institutions with different professional capacities will be created, covering all areas from R&D in the field of maritime studies, engineering and technology, propulsion systems, ship design to coordination and planning port activities.
One of the main aspects of this project is development of two types of ships (Ro-Pax and double-ended ferry) that will adapt to the actual and specific operating profiles, which will take advantage of the hybrid propulsion systems.
