Galinac Grbac is the assistant professor of computer science and the head and
founder of the Software
Engineering and Information Processing Laboratory (SEIP Lab) at the Faculty of Engineering of the University
of Rijeka, Croatia. She joined the faculty in 2007.
she was working at Ericsson
Nikola Tesla (ETK) and was actively involved in Ericsson
Core Network development. With their scholarship, she received the MSc and
PhD degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University
of Zagreb, Croatia, in 2005 and 2009, respectively. The eight years of
experience in R&D projects developing large scale complex software
system that is evolutionary developed by globally distrubuted
teams have strongly influenced and motivated her research and have served
as a platform for experimentation, where she has continously implemented her
research results and is gaining motivation for further research.
Faculty of Engineering, she participated in
the development and realization of the new Study Programme of Computer Science,
served as the head of this programme, and the professional practice
a number of courses for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students
including specialist education programs. She founded the Software
Engineering and Information Processing Laboratory (SEIP Lab) in 2011.
Her main research interests are related to large scale
and complex software systems that are evolutionary developed. In a broader
sense, she is also interested in a variety of large scale complex systems
including smart cities, telecommunication networks and others. In her
investigation she is actively performing experimentation within industry
context using real data and statistical, soft computing and optimisation
methods in the search for better understanding of these systems. She is
actively involved as the leader, management committee member and researcher in
a number of research projects funded by European Union, Croatian government or
industry partners. The
results of her work are continously published in international scientific
journals and conferences. She is a member of the IEEE and ACM. She is married to Neven and has two sons - Mak and
